The SCALE High Program empowered Stephens Middle School students to set and achieve their goals, fostering a growth mindset for high school readiness and lifelong success. Our 8-week curriculum equipped students with SMART goal principles, actionable plans, and heightened motivation.
Implementation Details:
Administered quarterly on campus, the program involved weekly sessions with academic coaches from California State University, Long Beach. Student orientation and ongoing support helped overcome initial challenges.
Results and Outcomes:
Quantifiable results demonstrated significant improvements: 80% of students achieved a C or better, overall GPA rose to 2.58, and attendance reached 92%.
Conclusion:
While the program yielded positive outcomes, insights suggest a shift towards academic tutoring for students struggling with core subjects. Eighth-grade students benefited most, indicating a need for tailored support. Moving forward, integrating tutoring alongside mentoring promises enhanced academic support and student success.
